Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

Educational Qualifications

• Passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination in one sitting with three subjects, including two of the following:
  • Pure Mathematics
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Combined Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Engineering Technology
  • Science for Technology
• Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination in one sitting with six subjects, including Credit Passes in:
  • Sinhala/Tamil/English
  • Science
  • Mathematics
  • One additional subject

Professional Qualifications

Applicants should possess one of the following:

• National Diploma in Technology (Civil Engineering) awarded by the University of Moratuwa or Hardy Technical College, Ampara
• Diploma in Civil Engineering awarded by the National Apprenticeship and Vocational Training Authority (NAITA)
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology awarded by the Open University of Sri Lanka
• Successfully completed Part I of the Civil Engineering Examination conducted by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL)

Experience

• No prior work experience is required.

Age Limit

• Applicants should be 18 to 30 years of age as of 03 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

The selected Technical Officer (Civil) will be responsible for:

• Preparing engineering estimates.
• Carrying out measurements and leveling work.
• Performing quantity surveying activities.
• Preparing architectural designs.
• Supervising maintenance and janitorial works.
• Supporting civil engineering projects of the Department.
• Performing other duties assigned under the Sri Lanka Technological Service.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles.
• Quantity surveying and estimation skills.
• Surveying and leveling techniques.
• Technical drawing and architectural design knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in any part of Sri Lanka.
• Commitment to public service and professional ethics.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Code: MN 3-2025
• Salary Scale: Rs. 52,250 – 100,040 according to the approved government salary structure.
• Permanent and pensionable government appointment.
• Other government allowances and benefits applicable under Public Service regulations.
