Company Overview

Independent Television Network Limited (ITN) is one of Sri Lanka’s premier state-owned media organizations. ITN operates ITN and Vasantham TV television channels, Lakhanda FM and Vasantham FM radio stations, ITN Digital for digital media, MMC ITN Campus for digital education, and ITN Max, the network’s OTT streaming platform. ITN serves Sinhala and Tamil-speaking audiences with high-quality television, radio, and digital media content.

Qualifications & Experience

External Candidates

Applicants should possess:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Arts in one of the following fields recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka:
  • Journalism
  • Mass Communication
  • Film and Television Production
  • Television Programme Production

AND

• A Master’s Degree recognized by the University Grants Commission in one of the above fields.

AND

• Minimum twelve (12) years of managerial-level experience in the relevant field in a Corporation, Statutory Board, or a reputed institution.

Internal Candidates

Applicants should satisfy either of the following:

• Possess the qualifications required for external candidates.

OR

• Completion of two (02) years of satisfactory service in a Manager (MM 1-1) Grade I post in the relevant subject area at Independent Television Network Limited.

AND

• Completion of the Second Efficiency Bar Test.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, planning, development, and production of Vasantham TV programmes.
• Oversee all programme management functions.
• Plan, organize, implement, direct, and control programme production activities.
• Ensure high-quality programme content aligned with the channel’s vision and organizational objectives.
• Coordinate production teams and optimize operational performance.
• Monitor programme quality, scheduling, and resource utilization.
• Develop innovative content strategies for Tamil television audiences.
• Ensure timely delivery of television programmes while maintaining production standards.

• Strong leadership and media management skills.
• Extensive knowledge of television programme production.
• Excellent planning and project management abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary production teams.
• Strategic decision-making and organizational management skills.
• Excellent presentation and reporting abilities.
• Proficiency in the Tamil language will be given preference.

Salary & Benefits

• Basic Monthly Allowance: Rs. 123,019
• Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800
• Monthly Attendance Incentive Allowance as per company regulations.
• Transport facilities as applicable under relevant PED Circulars and Board decisions.
• 24-hour accident insurance coverage.
• Provident Fund contribution:
  • Employee: 10%
  • Employer: 15%
• Employer contribution of 3% to the Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF).
• Contract appointment for one (01) year, renewable annually based on performance.
