The company is responsible for the production, processing, and distribution of salt across Sri Lanka through its operations at the Colombo Head Office, Mannar Saltern, and Elephant Pass Saltern in Kilinochchi. National Salt Limited plays a significant role in supporting the country’s industrial and consumer salt requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

External Candidates

Applicants should satisfy one of the following qualification pathways:

Option 1

• A Degree in the field of Science or Management recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

OR

Option 2

• Certificate of Proficiency not below NVQ Level 7 in a relevant field.

OR

Option 3

• Certificate of Proficiency not below NVQ Level 6 in Quality Management.
• Minimum 05 years of relevant work experience.

OR

Option 4

• Certificate of Proficiency not below NVQ Level 5 in Quality Management.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.

Internal Candidates

Applicants should satisfy either of the following:

• Possess the qualifications required for external candidates.

OR

• Completion of five (05) years of satisfactory service in the post of Management Assistant Technological (MA 2-1) or an equivalent relevant position.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the saltern and production activities.
• Manage production schedules to achieve operational targets.
• Ensure quality standards and production efficiency are maintained.
• Monitor staff performance and coordinate workforce activities.
• Oversee compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations.
• Prepare operational reports and production records.
• Coordinate maintenance of equipment and production facilities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the saltern operations.

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Knowledge of production and quality management systems.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to solve operational challenges efficiently.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: JM 1-1 – 2025
• Salary Range: Rs. 72,650 – 122,970
• Salary Increments: 10 × 1,360 – 18 × 2,040
• Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800
• Telephone Allowance: Rs. 2,000
• Other Government-approved allowances.
• Starting Salary for 2026: Rs. 65,633.
