Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Passed G.C.E. O/L examination in six subjects (Sinhala/Tamil, Mathematics, English preferred) within two sittings
• NVQ Level III in one of the following fields:
  • Carpenter
  • Mason
  • Plumber
  • Welder
  • Painter
• Certificate must be issued by VTA / NAITA or a government-recognized institution
• Minimum 3 years of experience in civil construction work in a recognized institution

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in civil construction and maintenance work within Parliament premises
• Perform repair and renovation activities including masonry, carpentry, plumbing, and related tasks
• Support infrastructure development and building maintenance operations
• Follow technical instructions from supervisors and engineers
• Ensure safety standards during construction and maintenance work
• Maintain tools, equipment, and worksite cleanliness
• Assist in urgent repair and emergency maintenance tasks

Required Skills

• Practical knowledge in civil construction trades
• Ability to handle tools and construction equipment safely
• Basic technical understanding of building maintenance work
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks
• Teamwork and discipline in workplace operations
• Awareness of safety procedures in construction environments

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: Rs. 42,290 – 55,640 (Management Services Circular No. 04/2025)
• Initial Gross Monthly Salary: Approx. Rs. 81,000 (with allowances)
• Permanent pensionable government employment
• EPF/ETF benefits and government pension scheme
• Medical and welfare benefits as per public service regulations
• Salary revisions expected as per government circulars

Method of Selection

• Selection through trade test and interview
• Evaluation based on technical skill, experience, and performance
