The technical workforce of Parliament plays a key role in maintaining essential infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and building services.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Passed G.C.E. O/L examination in 6 subjects including Sinhala/Tamil, Mathematics, and English (maximum two sittings)
• NVQ Level IV in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the air conditioning and refrigeration field in a recognized institution

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Troubleshooting HVAC system faults and ensuring proper functioning
• Conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance
• Ensuring energy efficiency and system performance standards
• Supporting technical operations within Parliament premises
• Maintaining service logs and equipment records
• Ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards

Required Skills

• Strong technical knowledge in HVAC systems
• Practical experience in air conditioning and refrigeration servicing
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
• Knowledge of NVQ-level HVAC practices and standards
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
• Understanding of workplace safety procedures

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: Rs. 47,240 – 60,040 (Management Services Circular No. 04/2025)
• Initial Gross Monthly Remuneration: Approx. Rs. 87,000 (with allowances)
• Permanent pensionable government position
• Medical, retirement, and welfare benefits as per public service rules
• Salary revisions expected as per government circulars (2027 update noted)

Method of Selection

• Trade test conducted by a vocational training institute or supervisory board
• Interview assessment based on technical knowledge, experience, and performance
• Final selection based on merit ranking and evaluation marks

Nature of Appointment

• Permanent and pensionable government employment
• Subject to probation period and performance evaluation
• Medical fitness and security clearance required prior to appointment
