Job Overview
The U.S. Embassy in Colombo is recruiting for the position of Escort & Administrative Rover in the Management Office. This is a temporary, part-time position designed for U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs). The role combines security escort responsibilities with administrative and clerical support for various Embassy offices.

Company Overview
The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka seeks qualified USEFM applicants to provide secure escort services and administrative assistance across Embassy operations. The position remains open until filled, with applications reviewed on a bi-weekly basis.
Key Responsibilities
Security Escort Duties (60%)
- Escort non-cleared personnel and visitors within Controlled Access Areas (CAA).
- Monitor visitors while they are inside secure Embassy facilities.
- Secure work areas after completion of work.
- Ensure all materials entering secure areas are properly inspected.
- Procure authorized items for controlled areas when required.
- Operate security-related equipment including:
- Shredders
- Disintegrators
- X-ray machines
- Radios
- Service elevators
- Keys and related equipment
- Prepare incident reports for security-related issues.
Administrative Support (40%)
- Perform data entry and records management.
- Prepare meeting notes.
- File and organize documents.
- Answer telephone calls.
- Welcome and direct visitors.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail.
- Draft:
- Letters
- Memoranda
- Reports
- Diplomatic notes
- Use Microsoft Office applications and Embassy software.
- Assist with protocol events and official visitor support.
- Support VIP visits, including:
- Escorting VIPs
- Security oversight
- Classified material destruction
- Baggage control
- Other protocol-related duties.
Education Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Completion of High School.
Experience Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Minimum one year of office or administrative work experience.
Language Requirements
- Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing).
Required Knowledge
Applicants should have knowledge of:
- Office management and administrative procedures.
- Email and internet usage.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and document formatting.
Required Skills & Abilities
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to use common office software efficiently.
