The Bureau of Rehabilitation is a government institution responsible for implementing rehabilitation programmes that support the recovery and successful reintegration of rehabilitees into society. The Bureau operates rehabilitation centres across Sri Lanka, offering counselling, vocational development, psychosocial support, and rehabilitation services.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Be a Sri Lankan citizen.
• Be between 22 and 45 years of age (maximum age limit does not apply to eligible internal applicants).
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in one of the following or a related field:
  • Counselling
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Criminology
  • Another relevant discipline related to the post.
• Internal applicants should either:
  • Possess the qualifications required for external applicants; or
  • Have completed eight (8) years of satisfactory service in the Management Assistant – Technical (MA 2-2) service category in a relevant field.
• Be physically and mentally fit to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.
• Maintain excellent character and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the psychological and physical condition of rehabilitees and provide appropriate counselling interventions.
• Plan and conduct individual and group counselling sessions based on rehabilitation needs.
• Maintain accurate counselling records, reports, and confidential documentation.
• Support the welfare and successful rehabilitation of individuals undergoing rehabilitation programmes.
• Identify suitable vocational and rehabilitation opportunities and provide appropriate guidance.
• Organize social, cultural, recreational, and rehabilitation-related activities.
• Monitor rehabilitees’ progress and prepare periodic reports.
• Coordinate with medical officers, psychologists, and other professionals in accordance with counselling principles.
• Conduct family counselling programmes to support the reintegration of rehabilitees into society.

Salary & Benefits

• Permanent Government Salary Scale: MA 4 – 2025
• Basic Salary:
  • LKR 58,598.00 (2026)
  • LKR 64,320.00 (2027)
• Monthly Cost of Living Allowance: LKR 17,800
• Annual government salary increments as applicable.
