Information Technology Assistant (MA 2-1) – Bureau of Rehabilitation
Main Purpose of the Post
The Information Technology Assistant is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and developing the Bureau of Rehabilitation’s information technology infrastructure. The role includes providing technical support, managing computer hardware and software, maintaining databases and networks, developing IT solutions, and ensuring the efficient operation of the Bureau’s information systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
IT Operations
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software.
- Provide technical support to users and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Maintain computer systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Perform routine system maintenance and upgrades.
System Administration
- Assist in managing databases and information systems.
- Support system analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
- Prepare and maintain Management Information System (MIS) reports.
- Ensure proper backup and recovery of organizational data.
Network Administration
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer networks.
- Support network administration and network security activities.
- Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues.
- Assist in maintaining server and communication infrastructure.
IT Development & Security
- Support software development, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
- Maintain database administration activities.
- Ensure information security and data protection.
- Perform any other IT-related duties assigned by the supervising officer. According to the competency table on page 8, the role may involve programming, system development, database administration, network administration, and network security support.
Salary Scale
Salary Scale (MA 2-1 – 2016)
- Rs. 30,310 – 50,940
Current Salary Levels
- Grade III – Rs. 30,310
- Grade II – Rs. 33,660
- Grade I – Rs. 38,870
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
- A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 5 or another Government-recognized qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Satisfactory physical and mental fitness to perform the duties of the post.
- Any additional qualifications specified in the approved Scheme of Recruitment.
