Qualifications & Experience

• Applicants must possess any one of the following qualifications:
  • A Four-Year Degree in Mechanical Engineering recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) Sri Lanka and recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for admission to the Class of Associate Membership.
  • Any other equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering recognized by the UGC and accepted by the Engineering Council of Sri Lanka (ECSL) and IESL.
• Minimum three (03) years of post-qualifying relevant experience in a Public Service, Corporation, Statutory Board, Institution, or recognized Non-State Institution.
• Additional preference will be given to candidates with one or two years of experience in:
  • Air conditioning and ventilation systems
  • Fire protection and detection systems
  • LP and Medical Gas Systems
  • Elevators
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Plumbing systems

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering activities with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders.
• Assist clients in feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Provide technical advice on project financing, cost planning, and engineering solutions.
• Support the preparation of project briefs and procurement documentation.
• Assist in selecting appropriate procurement methods and engineering consultants.
• Develop engineering design plans in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure appropriate engineering technologies and standards are applied.
• Conduct preliminary site investigations and evaluate alternative design solutions.
• Assist in obtaining statutory approvals from relevant authorities.
• Prepare, review, and submit tender documentation.
• Support tender evaluation and related procurement activities.
• Develop and implement project monitoring systems covering cost, quality, safety, and progress.
• Assist in project commissioning, handover, and final certification.
• Guide, supervise, and mentor junior engineering staff.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervising officers.

• Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
• Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) contribution of 12% by the Bureau.
