Job Overview

Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation, invites applications from suitably qualified citizens of Sri Lanka for the position of Draughtsman on a contract basis. The selected candidate will support engineering and construction projects through the preparation, modification and maintenance of technical drawings and related documentation.

Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau is a leading state engineering consultancy organization in Sri Lanka, providing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy and infrastructure development services. The Bureau operates under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A National Certificate in Technology (NCT) in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification relevant to the position.
• The qualification should be obtained from a recognized Technical College or institution accepted by the relevant authorities.
• Knowledge and experience in preparing engineering drawings will be an advantage.
• Experience using computer-aided drafting software will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering and construction drawings according to instructions and technical requirements.
• Prepare, modify and update drawings based on engineering designs and site requirements.
• Assist Engineers and other technical staff in preparing detailed drawings.
• Prepare architectural, structural and civil engineering drawings where required.
• Maintain and organize drawing records and related technical documents.
• Incorporate revisions and amendments into drawings accurately.
• Assist with preparation of drawings required for construction and project documentation.
• Coordinate drawing requirements with Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and other technical staff.
• Ensure drawings are prepared according to relevant standards and project specifications.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervising officers.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of technical drawing and drafting practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of civil engineering and construction drawings.
• Computer-aided drafting (CAD) skills will be an advantage.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work with Engineers and other technical professionals.
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work effectively within project teams.

Salary & Benefits

• Selected candidates will be placed on a suitable salary point depending on their qualifications and experience in accordance with MSD Circular 01/2025.
• The Bureau will contribute 12% of salary to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
• The Bureau will contribute 3% of salary to the Employees Trust Fund (ETF).
• The position is offered on a contract basis.
