Job Overview

The Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management, under the Ministry of Environment, invites applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Electrician in the Primary Semi-Technical Service Category. Recruitment will be based on the results of an Aptitude Assessment Interview conducted according to the approved marking scheme.

Company Overview

The Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management is responsible for conserving and managing Sri Lanka’s coastal resources while supporting sustainable coastal development. Electricians recruited to the Department will maintain and support electrical systems and equipment required for the Department’s operations throughout the country.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

Educational Qualifications

• Passed at least 06 subjects in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination with two Distinction passes in not more than two sittings.

Professional Qualifications

• Possess a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 Certificate or higher issued by a Technical or Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) in a field relevant to the duties of an Electrician.

Experience

• Relevant work experience in the electrical field will be considered an added advantage.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Must be physically fit and willing to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
• Must be of excellent character.
• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Age Limit: 18–45 years as at the closing date.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Carry out electrical repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and ensure timely restoration of services.
• Maintain electrical tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and standards.
• Support electrical work at Department offices and project sites across the island.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Department.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of electrical installation and maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical faults.
• Knowledge of electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and work in different locations across Sri Lanka.

Salary & Benefits

• Monthly Salary Scale: Rs. 41,800 – 65,560

Selection Process

Eligible applicants will be selected through an Aptitude Assessment Interview. Marks will be awarded based on:

• Additional Educational Qualifications (Maximum 15 Marks)
• Additional Professional Qualifications (Maximum 35 Marks)
• Relevant Work Experience (Maximum 45 Marks)
• Leadership, Personality & Communication Skills (Maximum 5 Marks)

Total: 100 Marks
