Qualifications & Experience

Pharmacist

• Qualified Pharmacist with Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) registration
• Minimum 6 months of experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting
• Candidates with pending SLMC registration may be considered for Trainee Pharmacist positions

Ward Pharmacist

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy with SLMC registration
• Minimum 6 months of experience in hospital or community pharmacy
• Graduates with pending SLMC registration may be considered for Trainee Ward Pharmacist positions

Key Responsibilities

• Dispense medicines accurately according to hospital prescriptions and policies
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals
• Provide drug and vaccine information to patients and healthcare staff
• Maintain proper inventory control and monitor expiry dates
• Manage stock availability of essential and life-saving medicines
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and clinical teams on medication needs
• Participate in stock verification and pharmacy audits
• Support inpatient, outpatient, and ward pharmacy operations

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical practices and drug safety standards
• Good communication and patient counseling skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medication
• Ability to work in a clinical hospital environment
• Teamwork and coordination with medical staff
• Strong organizational and inventory management skills
