Qualifications & Experience

Lecturer (Probationary)

Applicants should possess one of the following:

• Bachelor’s Honours Degree in Sinhala with First Class or Second Class (Upper Division).
• OR Bachelor’s Honours Degree with Second Class (Lower Division).
• OR Bachelor’s Honours Degree without a class (or another degree with at least Second Class) together with:
  • A Doctoral Degree in Classical Sinhala Language Studies.
  • OR A Master’s Degree with a research component of at least 24 months.
  • OR A full-time Master’s Degree of at least 18 months with a minimum of 60 credits, including at least 15 research credits.
• Equivalent academic or professional qualifications approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Lecturer (Unconfirmed)

• Must satisfy the qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary).
• Possess a Doctoral Degree or eligible Master’s Degree in Classical Sinhala Language Studies.
• Have less than six (6) years of university teaching, professional, research, or postgraduate experience.

Senior Lecturer Grade II

• Must satisfy the qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary).
• Possess a Doctoral Degree or eligible Master’s Degree in Classical Sinhala Language Studies.
• Have at least six (6) years of relevant university teaching, professional, research, or postgraduate experience.

Senior Lecturer Grade I

• Must satisfy the qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary).
• Possess a Doctoral Degree or eligible Master’s Degree in Classical Sinhala Language Studies.
• Have at least eleven (11) years of relevant experience, including at least six (6) years after obtaining the required postgraduate qualification.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Sinhala.
• Conduct academic research in Classical Sinhala Language Studies.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research activities.
• Prepare lecture materials and conduct assessments.
• Participate in curriculum development and academic quality assurance.
• Contribute to departmental research publications and academic projects.
• Engage in university administrative and academic service activities.
• Support community engagement and knowledge dissemination initiatives.

Salary & Benefits

Lecturer (Probationary):

• Rs. 94,400 – 118,400 per month.

Lecturer (Unconfirmed):

• Rs. 121,340 – 136,040 per month.

Senior Lecturer Grade II:

• Rs. 138,980 – 171,320 per month.

Senior Lecturer Grade I:

• Rs. 160,520 – 187,820 per month.
