Company Overview

The National Research Council is a statutory government funding agency established under Parliament Act No. 11 of 2016 under the Ministry of Science & Technology. The Council supports scientific research and innovation by providing financial assistance and research support to public sector scientists and institutions across Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Experience

External Candidates

Applicants must possess:

• Passed six (06) subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination with at least two (02) credit passes obtained within a maximum of two sittings.

AND

• A valid driving license issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic for driving heavy vehicles.

AND

• A minimum of three (03) years of driving experience after obtaining the driving license.

Internal Candidates

Applicants must possess:

• A valid heavy vehicle driving license issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic.

AND

• A minimum of three (03) years of driving experience after obtaining the license.

AND

• Completion of at least five (05) years of satisfactory service at the National Research Council.

Age Limit

• Not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years.
• The upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate institutional vehicles safely and responsibly.
• Transport passengers, goods, and official documents as required.
• Ensure compliance with road safety regulations and organizational policies.
• Maintain vehicle logbooks and travel records accurately.
• Monitor vehicle condition and report maintenance requirements promptly.
• Ensure licenses, insurance, and other vehicle-related documents remain valid and up to date.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure the cleanliness and security of assigned vehicles.
• Support official transport requirements of the Council and its staff.

Required Skills

• Valid heavy vehicle driving license.
• Sound knowledge of road traffic regulations.
• Safe and defensive driving skills.
• Good time management and punctuality.
• Ability to maintain accurate vehicle records.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Professional conduct and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly.

Salary & Benefits

• Monthly Salary: Rs. 58,634
  • Basic Salary: Rs. 40,834
  • Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800

Additional benefits will be provided according to National Research Council policies and applicable government regulations.
