Job Overview

The University of Ruhuna is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Technical Officer (Grade II Segment “A”). This position is suitable for technically qualified professionals with a National Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Engineering or a related technical field who wish to contribute to laboratory, engineering, and technical support services within the University.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

• National Diploma in Technology or an equivalent qualification.

OR

• Higher National Diploma in Engineering (HNDE).

OR

• Higher National Diploma in the relevant field.

OR

• A Diploma in the relevant field of at least two (02) years full-time duration, obtained from a recognized institute, together with one (01) year of relevant field experience.

Note

Applicants should indicate the technical field they are applying for. Fields include:

• Agricultural Technology / Engineering Science
• Medical Laboratory Technology
• Engineering Technology
• Low Country Studies
• Any other relevant technical discipline

Age Limit

• Applicants should not be more than 45 years of age.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for laboratories, workshops, and academic departments.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and technical equipment.
• Assist academic staff with teaching, practical sessions, and research activities.
• Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and technical standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance of technical equipment.
• Maintain inventory records of laboratory tools and equipment.
• Carry out other technical duties assigned by the University.

• Salary Scale: U-MT 1 (II): Rs. 57,435 – 76,740; 98,990 – 60,925 p.m. (As per University salary structure effective from 01.01.2027).
