Job Overview

The Ministry of Defence invites applications from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the permanent post of Director in the Senior Management Category of the National Authority for the Implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC). This is a senior government leadership opportunity for highly experienced professionals with expertise in chemistry or chemical engineering and extensive managerial experience. Company Overview

The National Authority for the Implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC) functions under the Ministry of Defence and is responsible for implementing Sri Lanka’s obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention. The Authority coordinates national policies, regulatory activities, and international cooperation to ensure compliance with global chemical weapons control standards while safeguarding national security and public safety.

Qualifications & Experience

External Applicants

Applicants must possess:

• A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Chemistry as a subject, B.Sc. Special Degree in Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering Degree recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
• A Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 15 years of managerial experience in the relevant field within a Government institution, State Corporation, Statutory Body, Board, or a reputed private organization.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should satisfy either of the following:

• Fulfil all qualifications required for external applicants.

OR

• Have completed five (05) years of satisfactory service in a Grade I position within the Management Services (MM) Category in the relevant field.

Additional Requirements

• Be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post and serve anywhere in Sri Lanka.
• Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Possess excellent moral character.
• All required qualifications must have been completed by the application closing date.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the National Authority for the Implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
• Oversee policy implementation related to chemical weapons convention compliance.
• Coordinate with national and international stakeholders.
• Manage regulatory, administrative, and operational functions of the Authority.
• Provide strategic leadership and institutional management.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and international obligations.
• Supervise staff and manage organizational resources effectively.
• Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Ministry of Defence.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: HM 1-1 (Management Services Circular No. 01/2025).
• Salary Scale Range: Rs. 140,640 – 202,140 per month.
• Permanent appointment.
