Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS degree recognized by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).
• Valid SLMC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
• Completion of internship.
• Prior experience or interest in Intensive Care Medicine will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and handle emergencies efficiently.
• Good clinical knowledge, decision-making and communication skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with the Hospital Information System (HIS) will be an added advantage.
• Compassionate, dedicated and a strong team player.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to patients admitted to the ICU.
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions continuously and respond promptly to changes.
• Manage life-threatening emergencies and initiate appropriate treatment.
• Interpret investigations and monitor treatment outcomes.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in the HIS.
• Communicate effectively with patients’ relatives and provide necessary updates.
• Ensure adherence to ICU protocols, infection-control procedures and quality standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, case reviews and continuous quality-improvement activities.
