Qualifications & Requirements

• NVQ Level 4 in Dental Surgery Assistant or an equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) as a Dental Surgery Assistant will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a dental clinic or hospital.
• Fresh candidates may also apply.
• Good knowledge of dental instruments, materials and infection-control procedures.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under pressure.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with the Hospital Information System (HIS) will be an added advantage.
• Neat appearance, positive attitude and commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize instruments, materials and equipment before and after dental procedures.
• Assist dentists during examinations, treatments and surgical procedures.
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments while ensuring infection-control standards.
• Prepare dental materials and assist with impressions, X-rays and photographs as required.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
• Ensure the dental operatory is clean, safe and well-stocked.
• Provide chairside support while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Collaborate effectively with dentists and other members of the dental team.
