Job Overview

The Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka (TRI) is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the position of Personal Assistant to Chairman on a one-year contractual basis. This role is ideal for experienced secretarial professionals with excellent administrative, communication, shorthand, and computer skills who can provide high-level executive support to the Chairman of the Institute.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination with three passes.
• Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination in six (06) subjects in one sitting with four (04) Credit Passes, including:
  • Sinhala or Tamil Language
  • English
  • Mathematics
• Successfully completed a one-year Diploma in Secretarial Practice or a National Certificate in Secretarial Practice from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 10 years of secretarial experience in a Corporation, Board, or reputed mercantile establishment, including at least one year of experience after obtaining the required diploma qualification.
• Minimum computer word processing speed:
  • English – 65 WPM
  • Sinhala – 50 WPM
• Ability to prepare computer presentations.
• Minimum shorthand speed:
  • English – 80 WPM
  • Sinhala – 70 WPM
• Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala.
• Working knowledge of Tamil will be considered an added advantage.

Age Limit

• Applicants should be between 22 and 45 years of age.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Chairman.
• Manage appointments, schedules, and official correspondence.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and confidential documents.
• Handle incoming and outgoing communications efficiently.
• Maintain confidential records and administrative files.
• Organize meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Perform other executive secretarial and administrative duties assigned by the Chairman.

• Salary: JM 1-2 (2025) – Rs. 66,781 per month (Salary as of 01.01.2026 in accordance with Management Services Circular No. 01/2025).
