Be an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
Possess 1-3 years’ post-qualifying experience in litigation, legal documentation, recoveries, conveyancing, banking, leasing, finance or a similar legal role.
Have experience in court appearances, drafting pleadings, legal correspondence, contracts and security documentation.
An LL.B. degree or other relevant academic/professional qualification will be an added advantage.
A valid Notary Public license for the Colombo Judicial Zone in both Sinhala and English will be an added advantage.
Represent and/or instruct Counsel on behalf of the Company in matters before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Commercial High Court, High Court, District Courts, Magistrate’s Courts, Arbitration Centres and other relevant forums, including outstation court appearances where required.
Draft, review and advise on legal documentation including contracts, lease agreements, facility documents, mortgage bonds, deeds, settlement agreements, pleadings, affidavits, motions, proxies, letters of demand and other legal correspondence.
Attend to recovery-related legal work, including issuing letters of demand, negotiating settlements, coordinating recovery action and handling legal matters relating to defaulted facilities, missing vehicles, shortfalls and other contractual claims.
Review title and security documentation, attend to title clearance, land registry searches, extracts, registration-related matters and other conveyancing requirements connected to facilities granted by the Company.
Liaise with internal departments, external lawyers, notaries, valuers, customers, law enforcement authorities, court registries, land registries and other relevant institutions.
Provide timely legal opinions, reports and updates to the management and relevant business units.
Have a sound understanding of civil procedure, recovery litigation, contract law, conveyancing, mortgage bonds, lease documentation and land registry procedures.
Be able to manage a high volume of work, meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision.
Possess strong communication, drafting, negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Be professional, responsible, detail-oriented and capable of working in a corporate legal environment.
