Job Overview

Cargills Bank is seeking a highly qualified and performance-driven AS400 Systems Engineer to support and enhance its core payment infrastructure and mission-critical banking systems.

The selected candidate will play a key role in maintaining secure, high-availability banking operations and ensuring smooth transaction processing environments.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Understanding Card/Payment System architecture and end-to-end transaction lifecycle
• Managing Hardware Security Modules (HSM) and key management systems
• Handling PTF cycles, IBM i OS upgrades, and firmware updates
• Supporting WebSphere/Java-related system upgrades in coordination with vendors
• Overseeing production deployments with minimal downtime
• Troubleshooting transaction failures and payment switch performance bottlenecks
• Managing MIMIX replication and backup/recovery operations
• Handling HMC (Hardware Management Console) and LPAR configurations
• Leading Disaster Recovery (DR) drills to ensure data integrity
• Providing Level 2/3 on-call support for End-of-Day (EOD) batch processing issues

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A degree or equivalent professional qualification in:
  • IT
  • Software Engineering
  • Related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on AS400 system support experience
• Prior banking sector experience is preferred
• Practical experience with:
  • IBM DCM (Digital Certificate Manager)
  • WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• AS400 development experience with:
  • RPG
  • RPGLE
  • SQLRPGLE
    will be considered an added advantage

Preferred Skills

• Strong understanding of enterprise banking infrastructure
• Knowledge of secure payment systems
• Disaster recovery and backup management expertise
• Ability to work in high-availability production environments
• Vendor coordination and technical troubleshooting capabilities
