Educational Qualifications

External Candidates

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC); OR
2. A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, including Chemistry or Pharmacy as a subject, recognized by the UGC, and be a registered Pharmacist with the Sri Lanka Medical Council; OR
3. A Certificate of Proficiency not below National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 6, issued by a technical/vocational training institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) in the relevant field, and at least 5 years of post-qualifying experience in a pharmaceutical regulatory field in a Public Institution, Corporation, Board or reputed Mercantile Establishment, while being a registered Pharmacist with the Sri Lanka Medical Council.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of post-qualifying experience in a pharmaceuticals regulatory field is required for the relevant NVQ Level 6 qualification pathway.
• Experience should be in a Public Institution, Corporation, Board or reputed Mercantile Establishment.
• Applicants under this pathway must be registered Pharmacists with the Sri Lanka Medical Council.

Internal Candidates

Internal applicants should either:

• Possess the qualifications required by the external candidates; OR
• Have completed a minimum of 5 years of satisfactory service as a Management Assistant – Technological (MA 2-1) Grade II, with experience in the relevant subject area, and be a registered Pharmacist with the Sri Lanka Medical Council.

Salary

Salary Scale: JM 1-1
Rs. 72,650 – 10 × Rs. 1,360 – 18 × Rs. 2,040 – Rs. 122,970

According to Schedule II of MSD Circular No. 01/2025, the basic salary of Rs. 72,650/- will be paid from 01 January 2027, while the starting salary point for 2026 is Rs. 65,633/-.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 22 years
• Maximum age: 45 years
• The upper age limit does not apply to internal applicants.

Recruitment will be conducted through:

• Written Competitive Examination
• Structured Interview
