Company Overview

The Coconut Development Authority (CDA) is the national government authority responsible for promoting, developing, regulating, and supporting Sri Lanka’s coconut industry. Operating under the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, the Authority provides technical services, research support, quality improvement programmes, and industry development initiatives to strengthen one of Sri Lanka’s key agricultural sectors.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following educational and professional requirements:

Educational Qualifications

• Passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six subjects at one sitting with four Credit Passes, including:
  • Sinhala or Tamil Language
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • English
• Passed all subjects at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination in one sitting in the Science Stream (excluding the General Common Test).

Technical Qualifications

• Successfully completed a minimum one-year Technical Diploma or Certificate Course in Laboratory Technology conducted by:
  • The Open University of Sri Lanka,
  • Government Technical Training Institute, or
  • Any Government or Private Institute recognized under NVQ Level 5 as determined by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

Experience

• At least one year of experience in the relevant laboratory field will be considered an added advantage.

Age Limit

• Applicants should be 18 to 45 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
• The upper age limit will not apply to applicants already employed in Government Departments, Provincial Government, State Corporations, Statutory Boards, or permanent employees of the Coconut Development Authority.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and analysis according to established procedures.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in good working condition.
• Assist with sample collection, preparation, and testing.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards.
• Support research and development activities related to the coconut industry.
• Prepare laboratory reports and assist technical officers when required.
• Carry out other laboratory-related duties assigned by management.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: Rs. 50,540 – 10 × 540 – 7 × 630 – 4 × 1,080 – 20 × 1,280 – Rs. 90,270 per month
• Basic Salary Step: Rs. 46,960
