Job Overview

The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) is inviting applications from highly qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Senior Consultant (Industrial Metrology Laboratory). The selected consultant will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to restore the accreditation status of the Industrial Metrology Laboratory (IML) by implementing an accreditation recovery programme in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and strengthening the laboratory’s technical and quality management systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Metrology, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive practical experience in industrial metrology and calibration.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing, implementing, or managing ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories.
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory quality management systems.
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and technical management capabilities.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience as:

• ISO/IEC 17025 Technical Assessor
• Lead Assessor
• Metrology Consultant
• Senior Laboratory Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement an accreditation recovery programme.
• Review and close identified non-conformities and assessment observations.
• Strengthen laboratory technical competence and quality management systems.
• Provide technical mentoring and capacity development for laboratory staff.
• Review calibration methods, measurement uncertainty calculations, Calibration and Measurement Capability (CMC) values, traceability systems, and technical procedures.
• Prepare the Industrial Metrology Laboratory for Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) reassessment.
• Provide consultancy across the following metrology disciplines:
  • Electrical Metrology
  • Thermal Metrology
  • Mass Metrology
  • Volume Metrology
  • Dimensional Metrology
