Job Overview

The National Institute of Plantation Management (NIPM), under the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, invites applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the position of Garden Aide – PL1 (Grade III) on a Contractual Basis. The selected candidate will assist in maintaining the institute’s gardens, landscapes, and outdoor environments to ensure a clean, attractive, and well-maintained campus.

Qualifications & Experience

External Applicants

Applicants should:

• Have appeared for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should possess qualifications acceptable under the institute’s recruitment procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas within the institute premises.
• Water plants, trees, and shrubs regularly.
• Carry out weeding, pruning, trimming, and general gardening activities.
• Assist in planting and maintaining flowers, ornamental plants, and trees.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper upkeep of outdoor areas.
• Operate and maintain basic gardening tools and equipment.
• Support landscaping and beautification projects undertaken by the institute.
• Perform other duties assigned by the management related to grounds maintenance.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of gardening and plant care.
• Ability to perform outdoor manual work.
• Good physical fitness and stamina.
• Attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliability and punctuality.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale

PL1 Salary Scale:

Rs. 40,500 – 10 × 450 – 10 × 490 – 7 × 540 – 15 × 590 – 62,530

Starting Salary

Rs. 38,488 per month
