Job Overview
The Field Project Officer position at Earth Systems Consulting is an exciting opportunity for experienced environmental and field professionals to contribute to ecosystem restoration in Sri Lanka. Based in the Nuwara Eliya region, the successful candidate will support the implementation, monitoring, quality assurance, and reporting of the T-SHADE Restoration Project, working closely with plantation companies, government agencies, NGOs, and local communities. This is a full-time, locally recruited position with an initial six-month contract.

Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- G.C.E. Advanced Level qualification.
- NVQ Level 5 or above in Agriculture, Plantation Management, Forestry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant field experience.
- Experience working with tea plantations, smallholder farmers, or rural communities.
- Experience using GIS or mobile data collection tools will be an added advantage.
- Valid Sri Lankan driving licence with access to a motorcycle or vehicle.
- Proficiency in Tamil, English, and Sinhala is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working in rugged terrain and willing to work occasional weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assurance and compliance checks for tree planting and restoration activities.
- Perform field verification, data collection, record keeping, and plantation health assessments.
- Support nursery development and plantation establishment activities.
- Carry out feasibility assessments and implementation reviews.
- Identify project sites and assist with boundary mapping.
- Engage with plantation companies, smallholder farmers, NGOs, and local communities.
- Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
- Collect and manage GIS spatial data, plantation records, nursery logs, and agroforestry information.
- Prepare field notes, case studies, monthly reports, maps, and photographic documentation.
- Coordinate with district teams and project stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.
Required Skills
- Strong field monitoring and environmental project management skills.
- Knowledge of forestry, agriculture, or ecosystem restoration.
- Experience with GIS software and mobile data collection tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong report writing and documentation abilities.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in remote field locations.
- Commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
