Job Overview

The Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development is inviting applications from qualified Sri Lankan citizens, including Government, Semi-Government, and private sector applicants, for the post of Driver under the Central Expressway Project (CEP I). The selected candidates will support the Project Management Unit (PMU) in implementing major road construction and development activities.

Position Details

Job Summary

The Driver will provide transportation support for the Central Expressway Project by operating project vehicles safely and efficiently while complying with all government regulations and project requirements. Selected candidates should be willing to work at any project location within the country.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must possess:

• Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (6) subjects, including:
  • Language
  • Two (2) Credit Passes including Language and one other subject
  • Completed in not more than two sittings
• Valid Driving Licence:
  • Categories C and C1, or
  • Category B under the new driving licence system
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience.

Age Limit

• Government / Semi-Government Officers: Below 60 years
• Other Applicants: Below 64 years

Employment Terms

• Appointment will be on a contract basis.
• Initial contract period is one year.
• Contract extensions may be granted based on project requirements and satisfactory performance.
• Candidates currently employed in the public sector must apply through their respective Heads of Institution with the required release recommendations.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary, allowances, and other benefits will be paid according to Management Services Circular No. 02/2026 issued by the Ministry of Finance.
• Other service conditions will be governed by the provisions of the same circular.

Selection will be based on:

• Structured Interview
• Verification of qualifications and experience
• Compliance with the requirements of Management Services Circular No. 02/2026
