Job Overview

Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education is inviting applications from qualified, experienced, and competent Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Director (Training).

This senior management position is ideal for highly experienced professionals in engineering, vocational education, technical training, or related sectors who possess strong leadership, management, and training administration capabilities.

The selected candidate will play a key role in managing vocational training operations, training development, institutional administration, and strategic educational planning within the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.

Salary Scale

As per Public Administration Circular No. 01/2025:

• Salary Scale: Rs. 140,640 – 15 x 4,100 – 202,140
• Salary Step from 01.01.2025: Rs. 123,019.00
• Government approved allowances applicable

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee vocational training and technical education operations of the authority.
• Develop and implement strategic training programs and institutional policies.
• Manage training administration, curriculum coordination, and staff supervision.
• Support technical and vocational education development initiatives.
• Ensure quality standards and compliance in vocational training delivery.
• Coordinate with government institutions, industry stakeholders, and educational bodies.
• Lead institutional planning, operational management, and training sector development.

Required Qualifications

External Applicants

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

Option 1

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant Bachelor of Science Degree recognized by the UGC

OR

• NVQ Level 7 qualification issued by a TVEC-recognized technical or vocational training institute

AND

• Postgraduate Degree in the relevant field

AND

• Minimum 15 years of managerial-level experience in the relevant field in:
  • Government institutions
  • Government corporations
  • Statutory bodies
  • Recognized private institutions

Option 2

• Full Membership of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL)

AND

• Minimum 15 years of managerial-level experience in the relevant field.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should possess:

• Qualifications required for external candidates

OR

• Minimum 05 years of satisfactory service in a Management Category Grade I (MM 1-1) post in the relevant field within VTA.

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 35 Years
• Maximum Age: 55 Years

The age limit will not apply to officers already employed in government or statutory institutions.
