Qualifications & Experience

• Possess a full or partial qualification in Banking, Finance, or a related field. Holding a diploma or degree will be an added advantage.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in the pawning industry, including at least 5 years in the banking sector with direct inspection or audit experience.

• Proficiency in computer literacy including MS Excel, MS Word, or Power BI application packages.

• Demonstrated ability to assay gold content by using a density meter, touchstone, and other relevant gold testing methods.

• Strong leadership skills, planning, and organizing capabilities.

• Relationship management skills paired with deep commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee pawning operations across all branches, planning and conducting routine and surprise inspections to ensure compliance with internal policies, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.

• Assess operational procedures, security protocols, and compliance frameworks through routine and surprise branch visits.

• Identify operational risks, process gaps, and inefficiencies across the network, recommending and driving corrective actions and improvements to strengthen internal controls and operational excellence.

• Develop, review, and maintain pawning product policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and governance frameworks, ensuring complete alignment with CBSL (Central Bank of Sri Lanka) regulations and industry best practices.

• Work closely with Business Line and branch teams to support growth initiatives, improve overall service delivery, and grow the pawning portfolio while firmly maintaining risk standards.

• Drive a strong culture of compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the branch network.

• Identify, assess, and monitor operational, credit, and compliance risks within the pawning portfolio.

• Establish and maintain a robust internal control framework, ensuring it is periodically reviewed and strengthened through self-audits, surprise checks, and other control mechanisms in line with organizational policies.
