Job Overview

Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka & Finance PLC (MBSL), a subsidiary of the Bank of Ceylon, is seeking an experienced, results-oriented and customer-focused professional to join its team as Deputy Manager – Gold Loan.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the effective management and growth of the Gold Loan portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide Branch Gold Loan teams while ensuring regulatory and internal compliance.
• Support product development and process improvements.
• Formulate operational policies and ensure compliance with CBSL regulations and internal governance standards.
• Achieve annual Gold Loan targets and implement strategies for sustainable portfolio expansion.
• Maintain the NPA (Non-Performing Asset) ratio below 1% through timely audits, verifications, monitoring and strategic recovery measures.
• Drive operational excellence and business growth within the Gold Loan portfolio.
• Ensure effective risk management and adherence to applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Capabilities

• Excellent analytical, writing, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of gold valuation techniques.
• Comprehensive understanding of risk management frameworks.
• Knowledge of regulatory guidelines governing Gold Loans and the banking sector.
• Ability to drive operational excellence and business growth.

Experience & Education

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Gold Loan / Banking sector.
• Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration or a related field will be an added advantage.
• Professional qualification such as CA, CMA, CIMA, IBSL or equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience at Assistant Manager / Executive level.
• Strong knowledge of gold valuation and the regulatory framework governing Gold Loans.
• Age should be 40 years or below.
