Position Details

Position: Database Administrator

The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing enterprise database environments, implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions, optimizing database performance, administering security and access controls, and supporting mission-critical banking applications.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Production Database Administrator in a mission-critical corporate environment.
• Proven experience managing multi-terabyte databases and large-scale database migrations.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or an equivalent qualification.
• Vendor certifications such as Microsoft Azure DBA Associate, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), PostgreSQL/EDB, or ITIL will be an added advantage.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB (EDB), or Oracle Database.
• Strong experience with High Availability (HA), Always On Availability Groups, database mirroring, replication, clustering, and SAN optimization.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills for reporting and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily administration and operational health of production, testing, and development database environments.
• Monitor database performance proactively and resolve performance issues before business impact occurs.
• Design, implement, and maintain High Availability (HA) clusters, failover replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Develop, automate, test, and maintain backup and restoration strategies to meet Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements.
• Prepare bi-annual reports on storage capacity, infrastructure utilization, licensing optimization, and future capacity planning.
• Administer database security, user permissions, access controls, and encryption in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Execute database engine upgrades, security patches, and maintenance activities with minimal business disruption.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting support to Software Engineering, Application Support, and Business Intelligence teams.
• Diagnose and resolve database deadlocks, corruption issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain database availability, integrity, security, and operational efficiency.
