Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with six (06) subjects, including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Possess a certificate relevant to Cobbling or Footwear Repair issued by a Government Institute or a Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), or hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification relevant to the vocation or fitting field.
- Minimum of three (03) years of experience as a Cobbler in a Government institution or a recognized private organization.
- Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. (The age limit does not apply to applicants currently serving in Government service.)
- Must successfully pass both the interview and practical test relevant to the post.
- Should be physically and mentally fit to perform duties anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- Must possess excellent character.
- Should satisfy the required medical examination if requested.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain footwear used by employees.
- Replace soles, heels, stitching, and other worn footwear components.
- Manufacture and modify leather items when required.
- Inspect footwear to identify repair requirements.
- Use leatherworking tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain quality standards in all repair and production work.
- Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
- Support the Authority’s operational requirements related to footwear maintenance.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of footwear repair and leatherworking techniques.
- Experience using cobbler’s tools and repair equipment.
- Strong stitching, cutting, and finishing skills.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to assess and repair damaged footwear efficiently.
- Good problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Code: 10.3 (SS3)
- Initial Salary Step: Rs. 35,845/=
- Annual Increment: Rs. 365/=
- Approximate Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 111,000/=
