Position: Chief Marshal

Uva Wellassa University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Chief Marshal. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining discipline, security, and campus safety while supporting university activities.

Position Summary

The Chief Marshal will oversee university marshal services, coordinate campus security operations, and promote a safe learning environment. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in sports administration and leadership.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy either of the following qualifications:

Option 1

• Hold the post of Deputy Chief Marshal in the university marshal service.
• Be confirmed in that position.
• Have at least five (05) years of satisfactory service in that grade.
• Meet the following physical requirements:
  • Height: 5’5″
  • Chest: 32 inches (deflated)

Preference

Preference will be given to candidates who have actively participated in:

• Sports activities
• Social welfare activities
• Recreation programmes

within the University and at the National level.

OR

Applicants who are:

• Officers not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Sri Lanka Armed Forces,

or

• Officers holding an equivalent rank in the Sri Lanka Police

with active participation in sports activities.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale (as at 01.01.2025):

• U-EX 2 (II)
• Rs. 113,690 – 156,410 per month

In addition:

• Government-approved allowances applicable to the University System.
• UGC-approved allowances.
• Other benefits approved by the University Grants Commission.

Selection Process

Selection will be through:

• Structured Interview

Only applicants who obtain 40% or above at the structured interview will be considered for selection.

Applicants must:

• Be a Sri Lankan citizen.
• Be not more than 45 years of age.
• Submit the prescribed application form together with certified copies of all relevant certificates.

• Clearly mention the post applied for on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
