Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ Level 3 or 4 / NCT qualification or an equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Laboratory Assistant, Assistant Material Technician, or in a similar role.
• Experience working in construction or infrastructure projects will be advantageous.
• Technical knowledge of:
  • Concrete testing
  • Earthwork-related laboratory testing
  • Material testing procedures
• Familiarity with relevant specifications and quality assurance requirements in civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Material Technician will support laboratory and material testing activities related to construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist with laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Conduct and support concrete testing and earthwork-related material tests.
• Carry out sampling and testing activities according to approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and testing documentation.
• Assist with quality control and material inspection activities.
• Ensure testing procedures comply with relevant specifications and quality requirements.
• Support the technical team in maintaining accurate test results and reports.
• Ensure laboratory equipment and testing areas are properly maintained.
• Assist in identifying and reporting material quality issues.
• Follow established safety and quality procedures at all times.

Required Skills

• Practical knowledge of material testing procedures.
• Understanding of concrete and earthwork-related laboratory testing.
• Good knowledge of sampling and documentation procedures.
• Familiarity with civil engineering specifications and quality assurance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain proper testing records and reports.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
