Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.
• Must have completed CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, or ACCA.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in accounting — mandatory.
• Experience in the construction or engineering industry is highly advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of:

• Strong knowledge of MS Excel, ERP systems, and accounting software.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial accounts.
• Lead the monthly closing process, ensuring all entries, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and adjustments are completed within required deadlines.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements, cash-flow statements, and financial analyses for management review.
• Monitor the financial performance of projects and provide timely analysis on project costs, profitability, budgets, and financial risks.
• Establish and maintain strong financial controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial and operational risks.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger, and other core accounting functions.
• Monitor and ensure timely compliance with statutory requirements, including APIT, VAT, EPF, ETF, and other applicable tax and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, tax authorities, banks, and other financial stakeholders.
• Lead the preparation of audit schedules and responses to audit queries.
• Supervise and guide accounting staff, set deadlines, monitor performance, and ensure assigned accounting functions are completed accurately and on time.
• Identify weaknesses in accounting processes and potential financial and control risks.
• Recommend improvements and promptly escalate significant financial or control matters to management.
