Job Overview

Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education is inviting applications from qualified and skilled Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Assistant Director (Training Sectors).

This managerial-level opportunity is ideal for professionals with technical, engineering, vocational training, or industry-related backgrounds who are passionate about vocational education, training management, and technical sector development.

Selected candidates will contribute to the planning, coordination, supervision, and development of vocational training programs across multiple technical sectors under the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.

Salary Scale

As per Public Administration Circular No. 01/2025:

• Salary Scale: Rs. 91,690 – 10 x 2,480 – 15 x 3,450 – 168,240
• Salary Step from 01.01.2025: Rs. 81,710.00
• Government approved allowances applicable

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage vocational training programs within assigned sectors.
• Supervise training operations, curriculum implementation, and instructional activities.
• Ensure quality standards and effectiveness of vocational education delivery.
• Support technical education development and training sector planning.
• Monitor training performance and institutional objectives.
• Coordinate with instructors, technical staff, and industry stakeholders.
• Assist in improving training systems and vocational education standards.

Required Qualifications

External Applicants

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

Option 1

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or relevant Bachelor of Science Degree recognized by the UGC

AND

• Minimum 01 year experience in the relevant field after obtaining the degree.

Option 2

• NVQ Level 7 qualification issued by a TVEC-recognized technical or vocational training institute

AND

• Minimum 01 year experience in the relevant field in:
  • Government institutions
  • Government corporations
  • Statutory bodies
  • Recognized private institutions

Option 3

• NVQ Level 6 qualification from:
  • National Diploma in Technology (NDT)
  • National Diploma in Engineering Science (NDES)
  • Higher National Diploma in Engineering (HNDE)
  • Diploma in Engineering Technology – Open University of Sri Lanka

AND

• Minimum 06 years of service experience in the relevant field after obtaining qualifications.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should possess:

• Qualifications required for external applicants

OR

• Minimum 05 years of satisfactory service in an Academic Staff post under the Junior Management category (JM 1-1).

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 22 Years
• Maximum Age: 45 Years

The age limit will not apply to officers already employed in government or statutory institutions.

Recruitment Procedure

Recruitment will be conducted through:

• Written competitive examination and/or
• Structured interview conducted by an approved board

The final recruitment decision will be made by the Chairman and Board of Directors of the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.
