Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for achieving sales targets, managing distributor networks, leading high-performing sales teams, identifying new business opportunities, and executing sales strategies that strengthen Cargills’ market presence across the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sustainable business growth by achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Lead, motivate, coach, and supervise the regional sales team.
- Develop and execute effective sales plans and market penetration strategies.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand distribution channels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors and retailers.
- Conduct regular distributor meetings and performance reviews.
- Utilize sales automation systems to manage sales activities and reporting.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, and other internal departments.
- Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly management reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Passed G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) examination.
- Professional qualification from SLIM, Higher National Diploma, or other recognized qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in General Trade Sales, preferably within the FMCG industry.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil (trilingual ability is an advantage).
- Strong IT literacy including Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing distributors and channel partners within Sri Lanka.
- Hands-on experience using sales force automation software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Results-driven with a proven record of achieving sales targets.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned territory.
- Existing industry contacts and distributor network will be an added advantage.
