Director – Postgraduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine (PGIIM)

The Postgraduate Institute of Indigenous Medicine (PGIIM), University of Colombo invites applications for the post of Director, in accordance with the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978, PGIIM Ordinance No. 05 of 2017 and relevant UGC regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Doctor of Medicine (MD/MS) with Board Certification or equivalent qualification, or a Doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in Medical or Indigenous Medicine.
• Minimum 5 years of administrative experience after obtaining the doctoral qualification.
• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Must be less than 63 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
• Appropriate experience to perform the functions and responsibilities of the Director.
• Previous experience in educational and administrative fields will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The Director will serve as the full-time Principal Executive Officer, Principal Academic Officer and Accounting Officer of PGIIM and will provide leadership for the Institute.

The tenure of office is three years.

The Director will also serve as an ex-officio member of the PGIIM Board of Management and all its Boards of Study.

Documents Required

Applicants should submit:

1. Duly completed application form.
2. A statement of vision for the development of the Institute.
3. A brief account of what the applicant proposes to achieve if appointed as Director.
4. Complete Curriculum Vitae with supporting documents, including date of birth. A certified copy of the Birth Certificate must be attached.
5. If applicable, a report outlining achievements during a previous period as Director of the Institute.
6. A letter from the current employer indicating whether the applicant could be released upon appointment, where applicable.
