Job Overview
Browns Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Technician to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of marine engines and related equipment.
This role is suitable for a technically competent marine engineering professional with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills who is willing to work at workshops, boatyards, fishing harbours and customer locations, including field service assignments.

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of practical experience in marine engine servicing, installation, troubleshooting and major overhauling.
- Good knowledge of technical manuals, service procedures, technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Strong technical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Practical experience in marine engine installation, commissioning, servicing and repair.
- Experience in major engine overhauling, including dismantling, inspection, measurement, component replacement, reassembly, adjustment and testing.
- Good teamwork, coordination and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, disciplined and punctual approach to work.
- Commitment to meeting agreed deadlines.
- Willingness to work at workshops, boatyards, fishing harbours and customer locations.
- Willingness to work overtime and undertake field assignments when required.
- Ability to drive company or service vehicles and travel extensively for field service assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting and repair of marine engines and related equipment.
- Perform major engine overhauls, including dismantling, inspection, measurement, component replacement, reassembly, adjustment and testing.
- Conduct engine performance testing, commissioning, dock trials and sea trials following installations or major repairs.
- Accurately use service manuals, technical specifications, special tools, measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with manufacturer standards, company procedures and safety requirements.
- Prepare job cards, service reports, inspection reports, commissioning reports, sea-trial reports and warranty documentation.
- Coordinate with the Service Manager, Sales Team, dealers and customers to ensure efficient completion of service activities.
- Attend field service requirements and emergency breakdowns at customer locations, boatyards and fishing harbours.
- Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction and after-sales service quality.
- Identify technical problems and implement appropriate troubleshooting and repair solutions.
- Support timely completion of assigned service and maintenance activities.
Required Skills
- Strong marine engine servicing and repair skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Knowledge of marine engine service procedures and technical specifications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Good understanding of engine overhaul and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to use specialist tools, measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Good teamwork, coordination and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to safety and technical standards.
- Responsible, disciplined and punctual work approach.
- Ability to work independently during field service assignments.
- Willingness to travel extensively for service requirements.
- Ability to work under demanding field conditions and meet deadlines.
