Educational Qualifications

External Candidates

Applicants should possess one of the following qualification pathways:

Option 1

• A Certificate of Proficiency not below National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 5, issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), relevant to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing field.

Option 2

• Passes in 6 subjects with 4 Credit passes, including Sinhala/Tamil, Science, English and Mathematics, at the G.C.E. O/L Examination.
• Passes in 3 Science or Technical subjects relevant to the post, excluding the General Paper, at the G.C.E. A/L Examination.
• A Computer Certificate Course of not less than 6 months will be considered an added qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a reputed pharmaceutical manufacturing organization relevant to the field.

Trainee Recruitment

Candidates who possess the following qualifications may be recruited as trainees:

• G.C.E. O/L qualification with the required Credit passes.
• Three relevant Science or Technical subjects at G.C.E. A/L.
• Computer Certificate Course of not less than 6 months.

Trainees must complete 1½ years of in-house training as a Trainee Pharmaceutical Technician – Production at SPMC and pass the required written test before being absorbed into the permanent cadre as a Pharmaceutical Technician – Production.

Internal Candidates

Internal candidates should possess the qualifications required for external candidates.

Salary

Salary Scale: MA 2-1
Rs. 50,540 – 10 × Rs. 540 – 7 × Rs. 630 – 4 × Rs. 890 – 20 × Rs. 1,190 – Rs. 87,710

According to Schedule II of MSD Circular No. 01/2025, the basic salary of Rs. 50,540/- will be paid from 01 January 2027, while the starting salary point for 2026 is Rs. 46,960/-.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 45 years
• The upper age limit does not apply to internal applicants.

Recruitment will be conducted through:

• Structured Interview
