Job Overview

CMS (Pvt) Ltd is seeking experienced Data Platform Engineers to join its team in Sri Lanka and support a US-based client. The role involves monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Azure data platform services while ensuring high availability, performance, and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and support Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and related Azure Data Platform services.
• Monitor database availability, performance, storage, backups, scheduled processes, telemetry collection, and overall platform health.
• Perform T-SQL troubleshooting, query tuning, indexing, statistics maintenance, backup validation, database restoration, and routine database maintenance.
• Monitor, classify, and investigate alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and other operational monitoring tools.
• Follow approved operational runbooks and maintain accurate incident tickets.
• Communicate incident status, provide detailed shift handovers, and escalate unresolved or critical issues.
• Ensure the stability, security, and reliability of production database environments.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience supporting:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure Data Platform technologies
  • Similar database platforms
• Strong knowledge of:
  • SQL Server Administration
  • T-SQL
  • Database Monitoring
  • Troubleshooting
  • Backup & Recovery
  • Performance Analysis
• Experience following operational runbooks and documenting incidents.
• Ability to perform first-level troubleshooting and escalate issues appropriately.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with US-based teams.
• Familiarity with AI tools and technologies is an added advantage.
