Job Overview

CMS (Pvt) Ltd is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to support a US-based client’s database infrastructure in Sri Lanka. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and support Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and related Azure data platform services.
• Monitor database availability, performance, storage, backups, scheduled processes, telemetry collection, and platform health.
• Perform T-SQL troubleshooting, query tuning, indexing, statistics maintenance, backup validation, database restores, and routine maintenance.
• Investigate and classify alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and other operational monitoring tools.
• Follow operational runbooks and maintain incident tickets.
• Provide complete shift handovers and communicate issue status effectively.
• Escalate critical or unresolved database issues when necessary.
• Ensure database systems operate efficiently and securely.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience supporting:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure Data Platform technologies
• Strong knowledge of:
  • SQL Server Administration
  • T-SQL
  • Database Monitoring
  • Performance Tuning
  • Backup & Recovery
  • Troubleshooting
  • Performance Analysis
• Experience working with operational runbooks and documenting incidents.
• Ability to perform first-level troubleshooting and escalate issues appropriately.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Strong proactive communication skills and ability to collaborate with US-based teams.
• Familiarity with AI tools and technologies is an added advantage.
