Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should satisfy any one of the following qualification pathways:

• First Class or Second Class B.Sc. Special Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a recognized university.
• Pass in a B.Sc. Special Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a recognized university.
• First Class or Second Class B.Sc. General Degree with Computing as a subject component from a recognized university, together with one year of experience in Computing or Networking.
• Pass in a B.Sc. General Degree with Computing as a subject component from a recognized university, together with two years of experience in Computing or Networking.
• First Class or Second Class B.Sc. General Degree where Computing is not a subject component, together with two years of experience in Computing or Networking.
• Pass in a B.Sc. General Degree where Computing is not a subject component, together with three years of experience in Computing or Networking.
• Any recognized degree together with a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science or Computer Technology from a recognized university and one year of experience in Computing or Networking.
• Fifteen years of experience as a Computer Programmer in the University Service.

Selection will be based on an Aptitude Test followed by a Structured Interview.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the university network infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance and system availability.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking equipment.
• Assist in maintaining secure network operations.
• Provide technical support for computing and networking services.
• Assist with network upgrades, maintenance, and system improvements.
• Ensure reliable IT services for academic and administrative operations.

• Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts.
• Network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of computer systems and IT infrastructure.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
• Good analytical and communication skills.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Scale:

• U-AS 2 (II)
• Rs. 85,305 – 3×2,400 – 92,505 (EB) 94,905 – 14×2,400 – 128,505 per month (as at 01.01.2025)

Additional Benefits:

• Government approved allowances applicable to the University System.
• Other benefits approved by the University Grants Commission.
• Appointment will be governed by the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978, subsequent amendments, Ordinances, Regulations, Rules, and relevant provisions.
