Job Overview

The Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) – Stage II Project is inviting applications for the position of Agriculture Manager under the Commercial Agriculture Development (CAD) Project. This role is responsible for leading agriculture programme implementation, coordinating stakeholders, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and supporting commercial agriculture development initiatives within the designated project area.

Company Overview

The Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program (MWSIP) – Stage II Project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation with funding support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Commercial Agriculture Development (CAD) Project aims to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen agribusiness development, enhance market access, and promote sustainable farming practices across Sri Lanka.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should satisfy one of the following qualification pathways:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or a qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission as equivalent to a degree in the relevant field, together with a Postgraduate Degree (Master’s) or a similar professional qualification obtained from a recognized professional body, and at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• OR A Class II/III or above Officer of a Government All-Island Service (or equivalent status) with at least 7 years of experience in a Class II/I position or an equivalent role.

Additional advantages include:

• Experience in agricultural project management.

• Experience in foreign-funded development projects.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Computer literacy and knowledge of government regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement all aspects of the agriculture programme, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Supervise agriculture activities within the designated project area.
• Coordinate stakeholders to ensure successful programme implementation.
• Promote sustainable agricultural practices and improved market access.
• Support agricultural productivity improvement initiatives.
• Assist Agriculture Specialists in managing project resources.
• Ensure compliance with project regulations and operational requirements.
• Monitor programme progress and contribute to timely project completion.
• Support achievement of Commercial Agriculture Development project objectives.
• Prepare reports and maintain effective communication with project management.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary Scale: Category D – Rs. 260,000 – (2 × 10,000) Rs. 280,000
• Government-approved salary scale with applicable allowances.

• One-year contract renewable based on performance and project requirements.
