Selected applicants may be assigned to any VTA work station islandwide based on service requirements.

Salary Scale

As per Public Administration Circular No. 01/2025:

• Salary Scale: Rs. 40,834.00 and government approved allowances
• Government approved allowances applicable

Job Responsibilities

• Operate institutional vehicles safely and responsibly.
• Transport staff, materials, and official documents as assigned.
• Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
• Maintain vehicle log books, fuel records, and transport documentation.
• Follow traffic regulations and institutional transport policies.
• Report vehicle maintenance requirements and operational issues promptly.
• Support transport-related operational activities of the authority.

Required Qualifications

External Applicants

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Passed G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) in not more than two sittings with six (06) subjects including credit passes in two (02) subjects.

Professional Qualifications

• Valid heavy vehicle driving license issued by the Commissioner General of the Department of Motor Traffic
• Minimum 03 years of driving experience after obtaining the driving license.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should possess:

• Valid heavy vehicle driving license issued by the Department of Motor Traffic
• Minimum 03 years of driving experience after obtaining the license

AND

• Minimum 05 years of satisfactory service in:
  • Primary Level Semi-Skilled (PL 2)

OR

• Primary Level Unskilled (PL 1) service category.

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Maximum Age: 45 Years

The age limit does not apply to officers already employed in government or statutory institutions.

Recruitment Procedure

Recruitment will be conducted through:

• Written competitive examination and/or
• Structured interview conducted by an approved board

The final recruitment decision will be made by the Chairman and Board of Directors of the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.
