Job Overview

Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education is inviting applications from qualified, skilled, and efficient Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Transport Officer.

This is an excellent government sector opportunity for candidates with qualifications and experience in automobile technology, transport management, mechanical engineering, or related technical fields. The selected candidate will support vehicle management, transport coordination, and technical transport operations within the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.

Salary Scale

As per Public Administration Circular No. 01/2025:

• Salary Scale: Rs. 72,650 – 10 x 1,360 – 18 x 2,040 – 122,970
• Salary Step from 01.01.2025: Rs. 65,633.00
• Government approved allowances applicable

Job Responsibilities

• Manage transport operations and vehicle administration within the authority.
• Supervise vehicle maintenance and transport-related activities.
• Coordinate transport schedules and operational logistics.
• Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of institutional vehicles.
• Maintain transport records, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor transport safety and operational efficiency.
• Support administrative and technical transport management functions.

Required Qualifications

External Applicants

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

Option 1

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile Technology) recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC)

Option 2

• NVQ Level 7 qualification issued by a TVEC-recognized technical or vocational training institute

Option 3

• NVQ Level 6 qualification in the relevant field from:
  • National Diploma in Technology (NDT)
  • National Diploma in Engineering Sciences (NDES)
  • Higher National Diploma in Engineering (HNDE)
  • Diploma in Engineering Technology – Open University of Sri Lanka

AND

• Minimum 05 years of experience in the relevant field in:
  • Government institutions
  • Government corporations
  • Statutory bodies
  • Recognized private institutions after obtaining the qualification.

Internal Applicants

Applicants should possess:

• Qualifications required for external applicants

OR

• Minimum 05 years of satisfactory service as:
  • Senior Instructor (Motor Mechanic) in Operational/Instructor Services (MA 4)

OR

• Instructor (Motor Mechanic) Grade II in Management Assistant – Technology category (MA 2-2).

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 22 Years
• Maximum Age: 45 Years

The age limit does not apply to officers already employed in government or statutory institutions.
