Job Overview

National Savings Bank is inviting applications for the post of Translator (Tamil) – Grade III Class II. This is an excellent banking sector career opportunity for qualified candidates with strong Tamil and English language translation skills and professional translation experience.

The selected candidate will be responsible for translating official documents, communications, and banking-related materials between Tamil and English while supporting multilingual communication requirements of the Bank.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should fulfill one of the following qualification pathways:

Option 1

• A Degree from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka in Tamil Stream with English as a subject

AND

• Minimum three (03) years of experience as a Tamil Translator engaged in translation work from Tamil to English and vice versa

Option 2

• A Degree from a university recognized by the UGC in English Stream

AND

• Passed G.C.E. A/L and G.C.E. O/L examinations in Tamil medium with a Distinction for Tamil Language as the first language at G.C.E. O/L

AND

• Minimum five (05) years of experience as a Tamil Translator engaged in translation work from Tamil to English and vice versa

Option 3

• A Degree from a university recognized by the UGC of Sri Lanka

AND

• Minimum ten (10) years of experience as a Tamil Translator engaged in translation work from Tamil to English and vice versa

Additional Advantage

• Experience in Sinhala to Tamil translation work and vice versa in a recognized institution will be considered an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

• Translate official documents between Tamil and English accurately
• Assist with multilingual communication requirements of the Bank
• Translate circulars, reports, notices, and correspondence
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in translation work
• Ensure language consistency and professional standards
• Support departmental communication and documentation tasks
• Coordinate translation-related administrative functions when required
