Senior Microbiologist cum Laboratory Manager Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological testing and analysis in chemical manufacturing and water/wastewater treatment processes
• Ensure compliance with Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) standards and regulatory requirements
• Develop and implement microbiological quality control procedures
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior microbiologists and laboratory staff
• Maintain laboratory documentation, records, and reports according to accreditation standards
• Monitor laboratory quality assurance processes and testing accuracy
• Support compliance with ISO laboratory management systems

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree specializing in Microbiology from a recognized university

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory
• Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited environment is preferred
• Experience handling SLAB authorization signatures will be considered an added advantage

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of microbiological testing methods
• Understanding of laboratory quality control systems
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and accreditation standards
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards is advantageous
