Qualifications & Experience
- G.C.E. Advanced Level qualification in any stream.
- Certificate or Diploma in Secretarial Practice, Medical Transcription, Office Administration or a related field will be an added advantage.
- 0–2 years of experience in medical typing or a similar role.
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting will be preferable.
- Excellent English typing skills with a high level of speed and accuracy.
- Good knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Microsoft Word.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling patient information.
Key Responsibilities
- Type medical reports, discharge summaries, clinic notes and other clinical documents accurately.
- Transcribe dictated reports from doctors and other healthcare professionals.
- Review documents for spelling, grammar, formatting and completeness.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical medical records.
- Ensure patient information is handled securely and confidentially.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses and relevant departments to obtain required information.
- Perform data entry and maintain medical documentation.
- Assist with filing and organizing clinical records.
- Ensure medical documents are prepared and processed within required timeframes.
- Perform other administrative duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Excellent English typing speed and accuracy.
- Good knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and MS Office applications.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential patient information responsibly.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
