Qualifications & Experience

• MBBS qualification.
• Registration with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) is mandatory.

• 3–5 years of experience in practising anaesthesia.
• Good command of English and Sinhala.
• Knowledge of Tamil will be an added advantage.
• Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete pre-anaesthesia assessments and obtain informed anaesthesia consent.
• Implement anaesthetic plans and ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of patient records.
• Provide perioperative, postoperative and recovery care.
• Respond to emergencies, including Code Blue situations.
• Provide support for airway management, epidural procedures, PCA and difficult cannulation.
• Communicate effectively with consultants, nurses and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Maintain proper patient handover processes.
• Attend relevant meetings.
• Participate in training and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in surgical procedures during duty hours when requested.
• Uphold patient safety, infection control procedures and hospital policies at all times.
• Perform other functions assigned by the Head of the Department in response to operational and strategic requirements.
